5/6 S Class Blog

Our Amazing Technology Expo!

Congratulations to all the kids from grades 4, 5 and 6 on their amazing techology expo last night.

There were so many weird, wonderful, creative and practical products on display… all made to the kids own designs and by their hands. All students have worked so hard on these inventions and products and are justly proud of their completed projects.

In addition to creating a product to a design brief and that met their own personal interests, students had to complete a written report discussing the process they followed and the skills and tools used. They had to complete some sort of literacy and numeracy task that they documented in addition to the report as well. Many students used measurement as their maths task, and as many were working with circular objects the whole class practiced their skills in measuring circumference, diameter and perimetre. We even discovered Pi by looking at our measurements and working out that the diameter was roughly a third of the circumference. Very useful maths indeed, and information that the students are remembering because they found it out for themselves!

Comments from parents were incredibly postive and supportive of the great work the kids have done over the last term. I can’t wait to see what the kids come up with next term….. but the topic is still a secret so you will have to wait and see. :)

Have a look at some of the inventions for yourself. And Yes – Barbie was tortured!

    Hello 5/6S!

Great to see your blog and catch up with what you have all been doing. The technology night looks fantastic, though I am curious about poor Barbie!

I’m looking forward to reading through some of your personal blogs, it’s such a great way to communicate with people, record your memories and share your knowledge. Keep it up!

Hope to see you all next year!
